Shaun is a professional Airbnb host that daylights as a finance and biz dev specialist at a local seattle tech startup. He co-runs his vacation rental property management company with his family and they’ve used neu exclusively to service their properties for a little over a year. We recently sat down with him to discuss his experience and why he chooses to use neu.

Shaun, how did you first learn about neu?
I was looking to solve the problem of having multiple cleaners be able to switch shifts. I found neu by asking some forums online and you were part of the conversation so I gave you a call.
What was the reason for wanting to work with neu?
Life before neu was unorganized, hectic. I remember going to the properties almost every day to deal with little things and we had a team of four and we had to continue to communicate, “who’s doing what?” and it was frustrating.
What I wanted to avoid was using a tech-enabled marketplace.
I had gone down that route before and the problem was that while these apps give you/match you with a cleaner and facilitate some messaging and some aspects of the clean but they weren’t the end-to-end solution that you guys were. When I found out that neu not only matches me with a cleaner but you manage the cleaners and they show up on time and clean the properties, that put me to rest.
What are the qualities you look for in a service like neu?
Reliability is one of the qualities I look for. One way that neu has gone the extra mile: one of the guests accidentally took the key with them. We didn’t have a spare key. I called up neu, you’re the only one with a spare key for me, but I’m out of town. Either, the guest is not going to check-in and is going to be very frustrated with me or you guys come to the rescue and you deliver that key. Somebody from neu gave me a call 20 minutes later saying, “we dropped off the key in the lockbox, you’re good to go!” and that was amazing.
I love neu’s focus on the business and the focus on putting the customers’ minds to rest as far as ensuring that the property was going to clean, communicating with us well, making sure that the cleaner shows up on time, that the property is cleaned well. Also communicating with the guests. If there’s an issue, you guys are right there and take care of the problem.
What would prevent you from using a service like neu?
If I didn’t have peace of mind. Part of what I love about neu is not having to worry about, “Is my next guest going to get the keys?” “Are they going to walk into a nice and clean property, with clean sheets and the coffee is refilled?” everything is as it should be with neu.
With neu, my mind’s at rest. I can go on with worrying about other things and taking care of the rest of my business. I don’t have to constantly worry about the property, whether it’s going to be clean and if the guests are going to be happy. I have full trust in neu.
How would you describe neu to someone who has never heard of us before?
The three benefits of joining neu’s platforms are peace of mind; ability to scale my business, and happy customers.
Neu allowed us to scale our business. I could not have expanded to five properties without the operations and logistics of neu and without the quality that neu has provided us. Neu is always on top of it - it’s fun! I can always give neu a call and you will always answer if you don’t call me back 30 seconds later. If you do screw up, I know you’ll fix it.
What would you say to someone looking to work with neu?
I would say, there is no other provider that takes care of your business as neu does. Taking care of the logistics for the sheets/linens, and just going the extra mile to make sure that the cleaners are trained, the properties are turned over well, they’re audited to ensure quality and the whole process is so seamless and I don’t have to think about it! They’ve just totally got it down.
